In short

We are looking for a motivated MS SQL Server DBA to manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and security. The role involves daily operations, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security management, and data migration tasks, with opportunities to work with Azure SQL/Cloud databases.

Responsibilities

Monitor, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases (on-premise and/or Cloud).
Assist in database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
Support backup and recovery planning, ensuring regular backups and testing of restores.
Monitor database performance and assist in tuning queries, indexes, and system configuration.
Manage user access, permissions, and security within database systems.
Participate in data migration, replication, AlwaysOn AG and log shipping tasks under supervision.
Participate in SQL Server Agent, Maintenance Plans, DB Mail tasks under supervision.
Perform routine health checks, capacity planning, and maintenance jobs.
Support developers by creating and maintaining database objects (tables, views, stored procedures).
Document database processes, configurations, and maintenance procedures.
Respond to database alerts, incidents, and performance issues in a timely manner.
Stay updated on SQL Server best practices, security standards, and new features.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Conceptual knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Conceptual knowledge of Backup and recovery methods.
Conceptual knowledge of Query optimization and indexing.
Conceptual knowledge of Database security and user roles.
Conceptual knowledge of High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a team and follow technical instructions from senior DBAs.

Desired Qualifications

Exposure to Azure SQL / Cloud databases.
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting or automation tools.
Basic understanding of Windows Server administration.
Experience with monitoring tools and Backup tools, like SQL Sentry, Redgate, or SolarWinds and like CommVault.
Relevant Certifications.
