I korthet

Ericsson Research is seeking a Wi-Fi Standardization Delegate to join their Advanced Development and Research team, focusing on next-generation Wi-Fi innovation and standardization. This hybrid role requires research across PHY and MAC layers, driving advancements in IEEE 802.11 standards and collaborating with international experts.

Ansvarsområden

  • Collaborate with an international team of researchers and standardization experts to develop innovative solutions for future Wi-Fi networks.
  • Conduct research on Wi-Fi generations five to ten years ahead of current standards, covering both PHY and MAC layers.
  • Develop research strategies and drive standardization efforts, including advancing requirements for Wi-Fi evolution within the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Working Group.
  • Build, extend, and use PHY and MAC simulators to evaluate ideas and generate simulation results supporting IEEE 802.11 standards contributions and coexistence assessments.
  • Evaluate internal and external standardization proposals, identify synergies between 3GPP and IEEE 802.11 technologies, and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Represent Ericsson in Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), university collaborations, and customer meetings.
  • Manage and contribute to industry engagements within Ericsson and with ecosystem partners.
  • Communicate results both internally and externally.

Krav

  • PhD, MSc, or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a focus on radio and physical layer aspects of wireless communication is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of wireless networks and the industry, with a solid background in radio communication and signal processing.
  • Experience in both physical layer and MAC layer design — expertise in both is not required, but comfort working across both is expected.
  • Solid programming skills and experience with link and system-level simulators (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or Java).
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to advance technical conceptual proposals and solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate, co-develop ideas, and take initiative when needed.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Önskade kvalifikationer

  • Hands-on experience with IEEE 802.11 and Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
  • Experience with standards development processes (IEEE, WFA, Bluetooth SIG, CSA, or 3GPP).
  • Familiarity with 3GPP radio access technologies.

Förmåner

  • Competitive salary range of $185,500 to $244,000 USD in Santa Clara, California.
  • Opportunity for an annual bonus based on business and individual performance.
  • Excellent health benefits including choice of three medical plan options and a dental plan option.
  • Company credits towards medical and dental premiums.
  • 401(k) Plan with automatic 3% company contribution and a 4% match.
  • Company credits for basic life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year.
  • 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually.
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave.
  • Financial wellness programs, educational assistance, matching gifts, and recognition programs.
