Emerson T&M is looking for an experienced manager to join our R&D Driver Software Team in Penang. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual with strong software project management and people management skills who can lead a team of approximately 6-10 experienced engineers. This individual will be responsible for the development of several NI drivers & software products, developing talent and managing projects.
What Will You Do:
- Lead a team of 6-10 engineers to unleash the value of systems & hardware through development of drivers & software.
- Responsible for several NI drivers & software. Lead the team to ensure all business deliverables are met, such as delivering new software features, enabling new hardware, sustaining, involved in researching/defining future direction of software, and helping support team resolve customer escalations.
- Manage projects from conception to delivery by driving project schedules through both direct ownership and delegation to team members.
- Collaborate with other departments (Hardware, Software, Support, Manufacturing) to ensure customer success and pursue opportunity-based projects.
- Interact with technical leaders, managers & product managers to define, direct, and execute on the evolution of software and hardware strategy.
- Mentor, develop and grow the career of team members.
- Effectively communicate with all product-line stakeholders including upper management.
Required Background/Skills:
- B.S. or M.S. in electronics engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.
- 5-7 years of experience as a software engineer, plus 1-2 years of experience managing a team.
- Demonstrated understanding with the following technologies:
- C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Programming for hardware & systems.
- Computer software and hardware architecture.
- Agile and waterfall project management tools.
- Experience in Windows & Linux driver development is a plus.
- Experience in leading the team to deliver to project specs and deadlines.
- Clear and effective communication. Excels at conveying and presenting messages at the appropriate level of detail within a team/function/department.
- Strong sense of ownership.
- Effective in collaborating beyond department boundaries.
- Experience in people management and relevant operational tasks, such as setting goals, effective in coaching/growing team members, fostering a conducive work environment, conducting job interviews, etc.
