The ideal candidate will have proven experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain, with strong negotiation and analytical skills.

As the Senior Sourcing & Category Manager, you will lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing strategies for key commodities. You will shape Emerson’s long‑term commodity roadmap, build global supplier networks, manage market and pricing risks, and drive sustainability and cost‑optimization initiatives across the supply chain. We look forward to seeing your application!

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Comprehensive product category management: Development, coordination, and global implementation of sourcing strategies for various material groups (including mechanical components, plastics, electronics, and raw materials) to enhance supply chain excellence.

  • International Contract & Price Management: Independently conducting complex contract negotiations (framework agreements, quality assurance agreements) as well as proactive price and terms management on a global level.

  • Cross-functional Interface Optimization: Close collaboration with development, production, and quality management to ensure early procurement involvement in the product development process.

  • TCO & Value Analysis: Conducting detailed cost breakdown analyses and developing make-or-buy decisions while considering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach.

  • Strategic Supplier Management: Identifying, qualifying, and strategically developing national and international suppliers, as well as conducting supplier audits to ensure capacity and quality standards.

  • Holistic Risk Management: Proactive identification of supply risks (e.g., material shortages, insolvencies) and implementation of second-source strategies and contingency plans.

  • Lifecycle & Obsolescence Management: Strategic management of the product lifecycle from sourcing point of view together with the suppliers to avoid supply bottlenecks, particularly for technically critical components.

  • Sustainability & Compliance (ESG): Ensuring compliance with environmental and social standards within the supply chain in accordance with current legislation (e.g., CSDDD).

  • Digitalization & Data-Driven Work: Utilizing modern ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, JDE), BI tools for spend analysis, and digital auction platforms and marketplaces to optimize processes.

  • Project Management & Cost Savings: Initiating and leading cross-location cost-reduction programs and value engineering projects.

  • Market Monitoring: Continuously analyzing global procurement markets, raw material price indices, and technological trends, as well as regularly attending trade shows.

Who You Are:

You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities. You set aggressive goals and have high standards. For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Proven experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain management.

  • Ability to analyze technical data, supplier capabilities, and financial models to support sourcing decisions.

  • Experience with supplier negotiations, contracting, and performance management in an international environment.

  • Strong communication skills, strategic mindset and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

  • Availability to travel approximately 25% for supplier visits and development.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
