Microsoft seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Specialized Clouds Power Platform team to build and operate Power Automate services in air-gapped and sovereign cloud environments. This role blends software engineering and SRE, focusing on security, compliance, and reliability for highly regulated sectors. The position requires ownership of design, implementation, and live-site operations with a high degree of automation.

Ansvarsområden

  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for service components, owning availability, reliability, and operational health.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, responding to incidents by assessing impact, troubleshooting issues, mitigating customer impact, and driving resolution.
  • Lead or contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and postmortems, ensuring learnings translate into systemic improvements.
  • Use existing tools and develop new capabilities to troubleshoot issues affecting availability, performance, security, and efficiency.
  • Leverage telemetry and monitoring to identify trends, detect anomalies, and proactively improve service health.
  • Drive improvements in observability, alerting, and diagnostics.
  • Lead and contribute to architecture and design discussions for components of Power Automate services.
  • Identify dependencies across teams and incorporate them into design specifications and execution plans.
  • Ensure systems meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements, especially within air‑gapped constraints.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems, enabling safe, repeatable, and automated releases.
  • Drive zero-touch or low-touch deployment automation using internal tooling and safe deployment practices.
  • Improve engineering efficiency by reducing manual operations and operational toil.
  • Collaborate with Public Cloud teams to onboard features, resolve dependencies, and align environments.
  • Support integration and validation across Power Platform services (Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Apps).
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and execution to deliver engineering commitments.
  • Develop a deep understanding of service architecture, code, and operational behavior at scale.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and operational maturity, and drive those improvements.
  • Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to team standards and best practices.
  • Leverage modern tools, including AI-assisted development, to improve productivity and code quality.

Krav

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • Successful verification of the stated security clearance.
  • Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience at the intersection of software engineering and site reliability engineering (SRE).

  • Experience partnering with Public Cloud teams to bring features to parity while ensuring those features meet the constraints of sovereign deployments.
  • Experience operating with a high degree of ownership—driving design, implementation, live-site operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribution to a culture of automation, observability, and operational maturity.

Förmåner

  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
  • There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
