We are seeking a Senior Software and Automation Engineer in Cairo, Egypt, to develop, integrate, automate, and support software solutions within telecommunications environments. This role involves end-to-end ownership of applications, APIs, databases, platforms, and infrastructure, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and automation solutions.
- Develop and integrate REST and SOAP APIs.
- Build scripts and automation tools to reduce manual work.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot applications on Linux and application servers.
- Lead root-cause analysis across multiple layers (application, database, OS, network, infrastructure).
- Support upgrades, migrations, incidents, and production-critical activities.
- Maintain technical documentation and review code/solution designs.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with various teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Approximately 4–6 years of experience in software development, automation, or application support.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, software design, and architecture principles.
- Hands-on experience with Java SE and Java EE, plus frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Quarkus, Hibernate/JPA, or JSF/PrimeFaces.
- Experience with application servers like JBoss/WildFly, Tomcat, or GlassFish.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, SOAP web services, and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience with Docker, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Good working knowledge of Linux and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Sybase).
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, proxies, and load balancers.
- Experience with Git and scripting languages like Bash or Python.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management solutions, preferably Keycloak.
- Familiarity with ticketing and service management platforms, preferably HPE Service Manager (HPSM).
- Familiarity with telecommunications environments.
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging, observability, and highly available systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, or Angular.
- Ability to take ownership end to end and learn new technologies.
