ABB is seeking a Senior Scientist for their Corporate Research Center in Bangalore, India. This role involves applied research in Control and Artificial Intelligence to develop intelligent autonomous systems for industrial applications. A Ph.D. and significant research experience are required.

Ansvarsområden

  • Work within the ABB India Corporate Research Center (INCRC) at the ABB Innovation Center (AIC) in Bangalore.
  • Develop cutting-edge technologies for ABB’s global businesses.
  • Collaborate with global ABB research centers, R&D units, and academic institutions.
  • Conduct applied research in Control and Artificial Intelligence for intelligent autonomous systems.
  • Gather requirements and identify use cases for autonomous process plants.
  • Evaluate and develop new Control and Artificial Intelligence approaches.
  • Develop proof of concepts, prototypes, and support productization.
  • Contribute to laboratory setup for experimental research.
  • Communicate project results to technical experts and management.
  • Create intellectual property and publish in scientific journals and conferences.
  • Travel to customer sites and ABB locations as needed.

Krav

  • Ph.D. in Chemical, Control, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical engineering.
  • Strong publication and patent record.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience; industrial research experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the development of model-based or model-free controllers (e.g., Model Predictive Control, Approximate Dynamic Programming, Reinforcement Learning).
  • Good knowledge of Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Supervised and unsupervised learning, Multivariate statistics, Time-series analysis, Signal Processing.
  • Experience in using Machine Learning for predictive maintenance, diagnosis, and monitoring solutions.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and Python programming languages.
  • Effective communication skills in English with internal and external partners, including the academic community.

Önskade kvalifikationer

  • Knowledge of operation and control in the process industry (e.g., Oil and Gas, Pulp and Paper, Metals) is preferred.
