As an R&D Senior Mechanical Engineer at ABB in Xiamen, you will be responsible for Low Voltage product design, utilizing functional design methodology and simulation for reliability. You will deliver designs, conduct reviews, manage prototypes, and ensure products meet technical requirements and market release standards, while also contributing to IP discussions and risk identification.

Ansvarsområden

  • Responsible for Low Voltage product design with solid technical proficiency in Mechanical & Electric parts design and development.
  • Utilize functional design methodology and simulation to achieve good product reliability and robust design.
  • Deliver design and implement design review with cross-function.
  • Make prototype and validation solution, test to validate the design fulfills the technical requirement, following type test and ensuring the product can be released to market.
  • Ensure designs comply with standards: IEC 60947-1/IEC 60947-2, GB/T14048.1/ GB/T14048.2, UL489 and Classification society rules (e.g., CE, CCC).
  • As Agile Team member, actively take charge and contribute to business targets, achieving own tasks on time, cost, and quality.
  • Communicate and cooperate with oversea and local stakeholders to maintain products and manage projects.
  • Understand the importance of IP for ABB business, contribute to IP discussions and develop project clearance reports.
  • Identify risks in R&D projects.
  • Author detailed technical specifications and decisions for LV switch and associated equipment.
  • Implement technical clarifications and customer requirement evaluations.
  • Create and Release vendor submittals, including design drawings, test plans, and factory acceptance test (FAT) procedures.

Krav

  • BS in mechanical engineering with min. 8+ years’ experience or MSc in mechanical/electrical engineering experience in Low Voltage product R&D.
  • Familiar with common engineering materials: metalsheet, copper bar, insulation part etc., and related manufacturing/processing.
  • Familiar with new product design and development process.
  • Knowledge of design methodology including FMEA, tolerance calculation, GD&T (ASME), DFA/DFM.
  • Knowledge of low voltage product related standards and capable to draft and execute verification test plan according to standards IEC60947, GB/T14048 and UL489.
  • Proficient in CAD software: AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong logical and construction thinking ability, work independently.
  • Good oral, reading and expression skills in English to communicate technical solutions with global teams.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Agile team experience is preferred.
