Synopsys is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer for their PathFinder-SC team in Chengdu. This role involves developing and maintaining high-performance C++ software for chip design, focusing on optimization, scalability, and debugging complex issues within large codebases. Ansvarsområden

  • Develop and maintain features for PathFinder-SC products in a large C++ codebase, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with team to define new functionality and deliver mid-sized projects independently.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs, including memory issues, performance bottlenecks, and logic errors.
  • Optimize code for runtime speed and memory efficiency for large-scale semiconductor designs.
  • Write unit tests, regression tests, and system-level tests.
  • Communicate technical decisions and changes clearly to team members.
  • Serve as a technical reference for other engineers on the project team.

Krav

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years of software development experience, or Master's with 3 years of experience.
  • Strong C++ programming skills with deep understanding of object-oriented design, STL, memory management, and modern C++ features.
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex systems.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality work on time in a professional software development environment.

Önskade kvalifikationer

  • Experience with large-scale commercial software development is a strong plus.
  • Experience developing physical design or analysis tools for semiconductor workflows is a strong plus.
  • Experience developing, debugging, or optimizing distributed processing systems is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in both C++ and Python is a strong plus.
  • Ability to understand existing code, extend it without breaking functionality, and prevent technical debt.
  • Skill in reproducing, isolating, and fixing production bugs to prevent similar issues.
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs with data in design reviews.
  • Understanding of when to optimize versus when to ship, avoiding over-engineering.
  • Writing readable code that can be understood later without explanation.
  • Comfort working in a global team across time zones, with clear written communication and well-documented code.
