ABB seeks an R&D Engineer in Vittuone, Italy, to develop next-generation People Protection products and evolve the RCBO platform. This hybrid role involves mechanical design, engineering simulations, prototyping, testing, and leveraging AI tools. The ideal candidate has a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience with CAD and simulation tools.

Ansvarsområden

  • Contribute to the development and evolution of ABB's RCBO platform from concept to validation.
  • Design innovative electromechanical solutions for protection devices using 3D CAD modelling, simulation, prototyping, and testing.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical documentation using CATIA V5 and Creo.
  • Perform engineering studies and simulations to optimize product performance, robustness, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Support prototype assembly, laboratory testing, and validation activities with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apply digital engineering methodologies and explore AI-powered tools to enhance product development and engineering productivity.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Testing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Identify technical risks and support project objectives related to quality, cost, and timing.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, engineering methods, and industry trends.

Krav

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering qualification.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design principles and product development processes.
  • Experience with 3D CAD design tools; knowledge of CATIA V5 and/or Creo is highly appreciated.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering simulation tools and methods (structural, thermal, or multiphysics analysis).
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence applications for engineering, simulation, and product development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent communication in Italian and English.

Önskade kvalifikationer

  • Knowledge of MATLAB is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP and PLM/PDM environments is considered a plus.
