AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a detail-oriented Rack Lifecycle Tech to join their team in Mumbai, India. This hands-on role involves the physical installation, cabling, and decommissioning of racks in data centers, ensuring operational reality from capacity plans. The position requires adherence to SOPs, EHS protocols, and documentation standards.
Ansvarsområden
- Execute rack installations including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and cable management per AWS standards.
- Perform structured cabling including fiber/copper terminations, patch panel connections, labeling, and dressing.
- Complete OTDR and power testing, validating results against acceptance thresholds.
- Execute work orders and tasks, maintaining accurate status updates in workflow management tools.
- Perform quality checks on completed cabling work, updating CMDB/DCIM.
- Identify and escalate issues, blockers, or deviations from SOPs.
- Support deployment wave readiness by participating in site walks and material staging.
- Receive, verify, and stage incoming rack, cable, optics, and hardware deliveries.
- Maintain accurate site inventory records for cables, optics, and hardware.
- Execute physical decommission activities including cable removal, power disconnects, and asset de-tagging.
- Perform device wipe and media destruction in compliance with AWS policies.
- Sort, label, and stage recovered assets for RMA, redeployment, or disposal.
- Adhere to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and governance frameworks.
- Complete all required safety training and certifications.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and suggesting process improvements.
- Use Rack Lifecycle Team tooling accurately to record work, track assets, and maintain data integrity.
- Support coordination with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and pre-work briefings, communicating task status and blockers.
- Maintain and develop technical proficiency in structured cabling, fiber optics, and data center physical infrastructure.
- Proactively seek feedback from leads and managers to improve personal performance.
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members.
Krav
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Ability to execute structured cabling, rack installation, and decommission activities with precision.
- Ability to follow established SOPs and escalate deviations.
- Ability to ensure every rack is installed correctly, cabled to specification, fully documented, and handed off with zero blockers.
- Ability to follow all EHS protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and safe work practices.
- Ability to update CMDB/DCIM and IPAM records accurately.
- Ability to maintain and develop technical proficiency in structured cabling, fiber optics, rack installation, and data center physical infrastructure.
- Ability to complete required certifications and training modules including EHS, LOTO, and technical programs.
