As a Rack Lifecycle Tech, you will be responsible for the physical installation, cabling, and decommissioning of racks within AWS data centers. This hands-on role requires technical skill in structured cabling, fiber optics, and adherence to strict operational procedures and safety protocols. You will execute work orders, manage inventory, and ensure accurate documentation to support AWS global infrastructure operations.
Ansvarsområden
- Execute rack installations, including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and cable management per AWS standards.
- Perform structured cabling, including fiber/copper terminations, patch panel connections, labeling, and dressing.
- Complete OTDR and power testing, validating results against acceptance thresholds.
- Follow all EHS protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and safe work practices.
- Execute work orders and tasks, maintaining accurate status updates in workflow management tools.
- Perform quality checks on completed cabling work and update CMDB/DCIM records.
- Identify and escalate issues, blockers, or deviations from SOPs.
- Support deployment wave readiness through site walks, material staging, and tool preparation.
- Receive, verify, and stage incoming hardware deliveries and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Complete all required as-built documentation, port maps, and workflow sign-offs.
- Execute physical decommission activities per assigned MOPs, including cable removal and asset recovery.
- Perform device wipe and media destruction in compliance with policies.
- Sort, label, and stage recovered assets for RMA, redeployment, or disposal.
- Update DCIM/CMDB and IPAM records post-decommission.
- Adhere to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and governance frameworks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying quality issues and suggesting process improvements.
- Use Rack Lifecycle Team tooling accurately to record work and track assets.
- Support coordination with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and communicate task status, blockers, and schedule adherence.
- Maintain and develop technical proficiency in structured cabling, fiber optics, and data center infrastructure.
- Complete required certifications and training modules.
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members.
Krav
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project Management.
- 2+ years of experience with network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment including VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
- 2+ years of experience in fiber handling and fiber installation processes.
- Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.

- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.

- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
- Familiarity with rack decommissioning including device wipe, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures.
