Microsoft Quantum Hardware is developing advanced computing systems and seeks a Quantum Systems Stability & Sensitivity Engineer. This role involves supporting electronics rack assembly, instrumentation integration, RF hardware installation, networking setup, and lab operations for quantum hardware test environments. The engineer will build and maintain clean, repeatable rack configurations, support instrument bring-up, and collaborate with various engineering teams.

Ansvarsområden

  • Assemble, cable, label, and maintain room-temperature electronics racks for laboratory instrumentation, control, readout, and test infrastructure.
  • Install and configure rack-mounted instruments, power distribution, RF hardware, cabling, patch panels, network-connected equipment, and supporting peripherals.
  • Operate lab tools and equipment in accordance with ESD, safety, and basic electronics lab best practices.
  • Support rack bring-up and first-line debug for instrumentation, RF signal paths, control hardware, networked equipment, and software-controlled measurement setups.
  • Use Python 3.x scripts, tools, and custom libraries for instrument control, configuration checks, automation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
  • Apply familiarity with DHCP and networking best practices to assist with network configuration, connectivity checks, addressing issues, and escalation of instrumentation network problems.

Krav

  • Master's Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Proof of citizenship or U.S. permanent residency/protected status for export control compliance verification.

  • Doctorate in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Master's Degree AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in both corporate and research laboratory settings.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an electronics laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with RF hardware, RF cabling, and relevant RF standards or lab practices.
  • Strong attentiveness to neatness, detail, aesthetics, cable routing, and visual consistency in rack builds.
  • Familiarity with different methods of amplification, including lock-in amplifiers, traveling-wave parametric amplifiers, and related measurement-chain hardware.
  • Experience with network configuration and debugging, especially for laboratory instrumentation or network-connected test equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience using Python in a physics laboratory environment.
  • Experience with Pythonic object-oriented programming, custom libraries, reusable tooling, and contemporary coding practices.
  • Familiarity with DHCP and networking best practices for laboratory and instrumentation environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with Python 3.x.
  • Ability to support networked instrumentation setup, basic connectivity debug, and software-assisted configuration checks under engineering guidance.

Förmåner

  • Base pay range across the U.S.: USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.
  • Base pay range in San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area: USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
  • Eligibility for benefits and other compensation.
