We are seeking a Principal Modeling Engineer, Field Applications in Austin, Texas to calibrate and validate semiconductor models for advanced process nodes. You will work directly with customer wafer data and be the technical authority for field teams when modeling gets hard.

Ansvarsområden

  • Calibrate and validate semiconductor models for advanced process nodes using customer wafer data, test structures, and characterization results.
  • Generate and maintain compact models for customer OPC engagements, ensuring accuracy and performance in lithography workflows.
  • Debug complex modeling issues at customer sites, collaborating with Field Applications Engineers to resolve calibration failures and data quality problems.
  • Build and maintain automated validation and regression environments to detect model quality issues before they reach customers.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Engineering to translate field requirements into product enhancements and contribute to roadmap discussions.
  • Deliver technical training and enablement to customers, supporting evaluations and proof-of-concept work.
  • Develop best practices, methodology documentation, and workflow automation to enhance modeling productivity.

Krav

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience building, calibrating, or validating semiconductor device models in TCAD, SPICE, or lithography modeling contexts.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor device physics and the impact of process technology choices on model behavior and accuracy.
  • Experience developing compact models and working with calibration methodologies that balance accuracy, runtime, and usability.
  • Proven track record of supporting customer-facing technical engagements as the expert problem-solver.
  • Programming capability in Python, Tcl, Perl, or similar scripting languages (strong plus for automation and workflow development).
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques to modeling or characterization work (differentiator).

  • Comfortable sitting with wafer data that does not make sense yet, pulling it apart until the story emerges, then translating that into a compact model for an OPC flow.
  • Ability to work across R&D, product teams, and customer sites, explaining technical issues to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive in asking the right questions, building what is needed with available resources, and moving work forward.
  • Ability to present complex modeling tradeoffs clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working across time zones and organizations, managing multiple engagements effectively.
