The Packaging Engineer develops, industrializes, and manages packaging solutions for vehicle programs, adhering to lean methodologies. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to ensure efficient packaging design and implementation, with a focus on both standard and type-bound packaging.

Ansvarsområden

  • Develop and implement packaging solutions for all vehicle programs.
  • Manage standard returnable packaging, dunnage/inserts, and one-way packaging.
  • Hand over packaging solutions to customers and plants.
  • Upload and maintain accurate data in relevant systems (VSIM, FLS).
  • Interact with part suppliers regarding packaging development.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, plants, and other SCM functions.
  • Verify packaging solutions with all stakeholders.
  • Participate in Gemba walks and benchmarking events.
  • Support Procurement with packaging cost estimates.
  • Implement packaging changes and upload relevant information.
  • Develop and verify cost estimates for one-way and type-bound packaging.
  • Escalate deviations related to timing, cost, and quality.
  • Report deviations in the VIRA system.
  • Support Core Teams with concept studies.
  • Define packaging patterns using the Packaging Assist tool.
  • Evaluate and confirm PIs from part suppliers.
  • Lead packaging development activities for special packaging solutions.
  • Define technical specifications for special packaging.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of RFQs for special packaging.
  • Interact with packaging suppliers regarding availability and deliveries.
  • Support the calculation of loop days for returnable packaging.
  • Secure packaging availability for series builds and ramp-up activities.
  • Update parameters in PFEC and LEQM for returnable type-bound packaging.
  • Manage the TSU process for investment-related packaging.
  • Order special packaging in accordance with the IDP procurement process.

Krav

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience using Teamcenter, CATIA, and other CAD software.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging engineering and/or a related field.
  • Extensive project management experience, preferably involving cross-functional and international projects.
  • Automotive industry experience required.
  • Experience in automotive packaging system design and implementation.
