Job Summary
Position Overview
As an L2 & L3 BI Application Maintenance Engineer, you will be the first line of defense for production reporting incidents and service requests across analytics and reporting platforms (MS BI Stack, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Qlik Sense). You will triage issues, restore reporting services quickly, execute runbook actions, and maintain accurate incident documentation. You will also support report/model deployments, data source changes, and schedule adjustments, contributing to stability, performance, and compliance with SLAs/SLOs.
Key Responsibilities
Incident & Request Handling
Monitor report failures, data refresh alerts, and BI dashboards; acknowledge within SLA and follow runbook steps for remediation.
Perform first‑touch troubleshooting (log review, refresh failures, datasource checks, dataset validations).
Escalate to L3/L4 or development teams based on clear escalation criteria; maintain incidents, timelines, and post‑incident data.
Source & Content Operations
Execute report configuration updates, datasource modifications, and parameter changes as per change policies.
Support deployments (SSRS/Crystal report moves, Power BI dataset updates, Qlik Sense app publishes) under guidance.
Manage service requests such as access provisioning, schedule reruns, data reloads, reprocessing, and environment refreshes with audit traceability.
SRE Ways of Working
Follow runbooks, SOPs, SLO/error budget practices, and stability guardrails.
Contribute to KB articles, runbook refinements, and known‑error entries.
Perform daily system checks (report schedules, gateway/engine health, dataset space, backups, logs).
Tools & Platforms
Experience supporting BI applications including MS BI (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS), Crystal Reports, Power BI, and Qlik Sense. Strong understanding of reporting workflows, data refresh cycles, semantic models, and BI troubleshooting. Hands‑on use of tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, Power BI Service/Desktop, Qlik Management Console, Crystal Designer, along with standard productivity tools (Postman, Notepad++, Git for documentation).

Skill Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
2–4 years in application support/maintenance across BI/reporting systems (MS BI, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Qlik Sense). Strong skills in report debugging, log analysis, SQL basics, datasource validation, and resolving refresh/reporting issues. Experience with change management tools, monitoring dashboards, and ITSM systems (ServiceNow/Jira). Ability to manage L2 & L3 incidents, deployments, configuration updates, and documentation.
Good to Have
Knowledge of scripting for automation (PowerShell/Python), exposure to API integrations for reporting platforms, basic performance tuning, ETL experience, and ITIL processes.
KPIs
MTTA/MTTR for L2 & L3 scope, SLA adherence, ticket quality & documentation hygiene, % incidents resolved at L2/L3, and runbook compliance.
