Mack Trucks & Volvo Trucks North America seeks an experienced attorney for a litigation and claims role in Greensboro, NC. The position involves providing strategic legal counsel, managing dispute resolution, and mitigating legal risks associated with product liability and warranty matters, while supporting business objectives. The role requires a Juris Doctor, an active law license, and at least 5 years of litigation experience.
Ansvarsområden
- Identify and mitigate legal risk related to products designed and assembled by Mack and VTNA, specifically including the defense of product liability and warranty litigation and the retention and management of outside counsel.
- Deliver cross-functional legal support for various business divisions, including product safety & certification, engineering, service, product planning, sales, marketing, and communications.
- Minimize legal claims against the companies through full compliance, timely statutory reporting, and complete and accurate record keeping.
- Review advertising and marketing materials and advise the business regarding claim substantiation, disclosures, disclaimers, and related issues.
- Conduct training sessions for various business groups to provide education on areas of potential legal exposure and reinforce best practices.
- Ensure the Legal function in North America achieves an effective balance of cost, results, and precedent.
- Identify, quantify, and effectively communicate significant legal risk within North America to Mack/Volvo Trucks General Counsel, business partners, and insurers.
- Participate in Industry/Commercial Legal organizations, on behalf of Mack/VTNA.
- Foster an environment where everyone in the Mack/VTNA Legal function recognizes their responsibilities and contributes to overall business and strategic goals.
- Promote the development of, and participation in, a committed department that works together to achieve excellence.
Krav
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in at least one state
- Minimum 5 years of experience in litigation practice, through in-house counsel and/or private practice roles
- Knowledgeable in product liability and warranty law
- Excellent judgment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Business acumen

- Well-versed in civil litigation defense, including product liability and warranty claims
- Self-sufficiency
- Strong negotiation skills
Önskade kvalifikationer
- Experience in the transportation industry or with automotive or heavy truck products work is a plus, but not required.
