Saab, Inc. is seeking an Import Analyst to establish and manage the U.S. import compliance framework, ensuring authorization and compliance for defense and commercial programs. This role involves developing import policies, coordinating with internal teams and external brokers, and resolving customs-related issues.

Ansvarsområden

  • Construct, improve, and run the U.S. import control framework, including entry review, exception handling, and CBP inquiries.
  • Build relationships with site shipping, programs, brokers, and forwarders.
  • Draft and operationalize import policies and SOPs covering clearance, TIB, Carnet, DSP-61, permanent import, DFE, broker engagement, and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate imports into and exports from the U.S. with international affiliates.
  • Clear imports by reviewing entry packets and resolving classification, valuation, origin, and document issues before broker filing.
  • Assign and maintain HTS classifications, coordinate ECCN/USML questions with the export team.
  • Administer DFE under HTSUS 9808.00.30.
  • Manage TIBs, carnets, and ITAR temporary import authorizations.
  • Support ACE for imports, including duty accuracy, protest flags, and payment authorization.
  • Support customs bonds, including U.S. and Non-Resident Importer (NRI) Canada.
  • Manage compliance aspects of broker and forwarder relationships.
  • Approve International Shipping Requests (ISR) and domestic tariff questionnaires.
  • Document import and temporary import/export activity in a system of record (e.g., OCR EASE, SharePoint).
  • Use SharePoint and process-improvement skills to create repeatable processes.
  • Assess sites against import requirements and address gaps.
  • Travel domestically and possibly internationally (5%-10% annually).

Krav

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, or a related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or import compliance, or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of CBP entry, HTS classification, and broker filing processes.
  • Sufficient export control literacy to flag and escalate DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, or ITAR issues.
  • Experience writing or improving a procedure, playbook, or tracker used by others.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly explain issues and requirements.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Comfort working in ACE or a GTM tool.
  • Willingness to work in internal systems and platforms.
  • Must be a U.S. person.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance may be required.
  • Access to export-controlled technical data may be required.

  • Ability to build and cultivate strong working relationships with brokers, site shipping, programs, and other stakeholders.
  • Enjoys challenges, identifies improvements, and finds solutions.
  • Motivation to learn and improve.
  • Interest in sitting for the Customs Broker License exam later with Saab, Inc.’s backing (subject to company policy and approval).
