Autoliv India is seeking a Prototyping Engineer in Bangalore to plan and execute prototype builds for seatbelt, airbag, and cushion products, ensuring quality and supporting product development. This role requires a BE in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with 2-4 years of relevant experience and knowledge of automotive safety systems.

Ansvarsområden

  • Plan and execute Seat Belt, Airbag, and Cushion prototype and sample builds in line with program milestones and lead-time commitments.
  • Review prototype build requests and ensure completeness of drawings, BOMs, and engineering inputs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on tooling, fixtures, gauges, inspection requirements, and build readiness.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, components, tooling, fixtures, infrastructure, and testing equipment.
  • Support Prototype Industrial Engineering (Proto IE) activities, including machine facilitation, fixture development, tooling, gauge management, and documentation.
  • Ensure prototype builds comply with internal quality standards, NCE-P requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Manage prototype documentation, including PFMEA, Control Plans, P1, P2, P3 documentation, and First Piece Inspection (FPI) reports.
  • Maintain product and process traceability through proper labeling, packaging, shipping, and documentation practices.
  • Execute and track build activities using systems such as GEO, PLM, and QAD.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance prototype capacity, efficiency, process capability, and MPS compliance.
  • Manage PRs, gate passes, and work permits required for prototype and improvement activities.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of contract operators to ensure smooth prototype execution.

Krav

  • Knowledge of Airbag, Seat Belt, and Cushion products and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks for design interpretation.
  • Experience in machine, fixture, tool, and gauge development.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of prototype build processes, manufacturing methods, and quality systems.
  • BE in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in prototyping, manufacturing, product development, or automotive engineering
