In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and concept design to hardware/software engineering, simulation, testing, and commissioning.
Project Engineering:
- Review project inputs from customer meetings, site surveys, and technical documents
- Lead engineering for DCS-based ECMS and data-center projects
- Develop network architectures, control logic, protection schemes, and procurement specifications for ECMS and Hybrid EMS
- Engineer software logic for load shedding, MW and MVAr sharing, grid tie-ins, synchronization, islanding, and black start functions
- Integrate LV, MV, and HV electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, substations, GIS, and switchyards
- Implement control logic based on SAMA diagrams and functional descriptions
- Develop breaker control macros, faceplate templates, and simulation logic
- Configure third-party communication protocols and interfaces, including Modbus, OPC, IEC 61850, and DNP3
- Lead point database development, I/O list extraction, and hardware/software integration
- Prepare and review system architecture, GA drawings, and network topology documents
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, NEC, and applicable regional grid codes
- Maintain ISO-compliant Quality and HSE documentation and procedures
- Coordinate with system integrators to support timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery
- Support utilization tracking and management reporting, including MORs
Field Services:
- Prepare site execution plans in coordination with the project manager
- Lead the site team during Ovation system power-up, redundancy checks, and I/O testing
- Maintain procedures for loop checks, device checks, and panel charging
- Lead site testing and troubleshooting for analog and binary devices
- Coordinate with customers and vendors on commissioning issues, progress updates, risks, and roadblocks
- Troubleshoot network and communication interfaces, including OPC, Modbus, DNP3, serial links, and IEC 61850
- Perform loop and device checks and implement required updates to logic, graphics, and databases based on site or customer requirements
- Work closely with the engineering team to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including controllers, modules, and link modules
- Commission ECMS systems for commercial operation
- Manage customer-facing activities and prepare site reports
- Coordinate with vendors and front offices to support site execution

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or power engineering.
- 8–16 years of experience in the electrical industry or with a DCS/PLC OEM or vendor, preferably in captive power plants or refineries, with knowledge of DCS/PLC programming, engineering, and commissioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform well under pressure.
- Proficiency in report writing and business communication.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including NEC, IEEE, IEC, and OSHA.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Willingness to work in industrial environments while following all required safety protocols.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across India and internationally, as required.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, substations, GIS, and switchyard operations.
Proven experience in ECS software design, including load shedding and power sharing functions.
Expert knowledge of electrical equipment, including switchboards, generators, turbines, AVRs, motors, transformers, capacitors, CTs, VTs, feeders, meters, and relays.
Solid understanding of programming languages, preferably C or C++.
Experience with IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC UA, and other control system protocols over TCP/IP or serial communication.
Experience with protective relays, substations, and renewable energy automation systems.
Experience designing and configuring SEL RTAC and equivalent IED architectures.
