Volvo Cars is seeking a Direct Material Buyer for its Ridgeville, SC facility to manage the procurement of materials for new and ongoing vehicle projects, with a focus on plastics and injection molding. This role involves supplier negotiation, cost optimization, supply chain management, and collaboration with global teams to ensure quality and delivery performance.

Ansvarsområden

  • Map, evaluate and establish a U.S. supply base for relevant commodities supporting localization.
  • Establish supplier agreements and source both local and global content.
  • Drive localization business case development, evaluation, and execution.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to achieve optimal cost, quality, and commercial terms.
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned suppliers.
  • Issue RFQs, purchase orders, and manage ongoing commercial changes.
  • Support and act on engineering and design changes within active projects.
  • Participate in global category meetings to align sourcing strategies and project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of VCC sourcing processes and related IT systems.
  • Lead cost savings initiatives from idea generation through implementation.
  • Manage BOMs (Build of Material) down to raw material.

Krav

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong emphasis on Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Automotive Industry, including Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers, systems and processes.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing procurement.
  • Purchasing / procurement experience with Plastics, Injection Molding and Painted Plastics highly preferred.
