Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation team seeks a DCD Sub-Regional Construction Leader to oversee large-scale datacenter construction programs, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget. This leadership role involves managing teams, driving risk management, and partnering with various stakeholders to achieve cloud growth objectives.

Ansvarsområden

  • Provide leadership, ownership, and accountability for the safe, predictable, and efficient delivery of large-scale datacenter construction programs across an assigned sub-region.
  • Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with Microsoft Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, organizational standards, and industry best practices.
  • Lead construction teams and delivery partners to achieve portfolio objectives related to safety, quality, scope, schedule, budget, and operational readiness.
  • Establish portfolio priorities and allocate resources to support business needs, project complexity, and delivery commitments.
  • Develop and maintain reporting processes that provide visibility into portfolio performance, risks, trends, and key business outcomes.
  • Lead project risk identification, mitigation planning, issue escalation, and governance processes across the sub-region.
  • Drive construction readiness activities including project planning, resource deployment, constructability reviews, execution planning, and delivery strategy alignment.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Contracts, Project Controls, Commissioning, Quality, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Influence and coach internal and external partners to resolve complex issues, remove barriers, and improve project outcomes.
  • Provide leadership oversight of contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other delivery partners to ensure contractual compliance and performance expectations are achieved.
  • Oversee project controls, commercial governance, budget management, forecasting, change management, and financial reporting activities.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess project status, reinforce expectations, identify emerging risks, and support project teams.
  • Lead portfolio review processes to evaluate project performance, risk profiles, mitigation plans, and delivery confidence.
  • Sponsor root cause analyses, lessons learned, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.
  • Establish performance metrics, dashboards, and scorecards that promote accountability and support data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure project teams are prepared for commissioning, operational turnover, project closeout, and transition to operations.
  • Build organizational capability through workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, mentorship, and leadership coaching.
  • Model Microsoft values and foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Krav

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • 15+ years experience working on data center projects.
  • 10+ years project management experience.
  • 10+ years people management experience.
  • Proven safety leader with a demonstrated ability to build and sustain a culture of physical safety, psychological safety, and employee well-being.
  • Experience leading large-scale capital construction programs with accountability for safety, quality, scope, schedule, cost, and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed construction organizations across multiple campuses, metros, regions, or countries.
  • Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading high-performing teams through talent development, succession planning, organizational growth, and change management.
  • Strong cross-functional leader with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain, Contracts, Project Controls, Commissioning, Quality, Operations, and external partners.
  • Experience establishing portfolio governance, risk management, performance reporting, and executive communication processes across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in contracting strategy, vendor performance management, change management, cost control, and claims avoidance.
  • Experience delivering complex, first-of-kind, accelerated, or high-risk projects while maintaining predictable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, metrics, and business insights to drive decisions, improve performance, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical, commercial, and operational issues into clear business decisions and actionable outcomes.
  • Professional certifications such as DBIA, PMP, CCM, PE, LEED, CQM, or equivalent industry credentials.
