Microsoft is seeking a Data Engineer II for the Update Platform Insights team to leverage data for assessing product quality and improving Windows update experiences for billions of users. This role involves designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, transforming data from multiple sources, and generating actionable insights to guide product decisions and improvements.

Ansvarsområden

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data assets.
  • Transform and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Implement processes for data extraction, validation, and monitoring.
  • Use telemetry and product signals to assess product behavior and identify quality concerns.
  • Develop metrics and measurement frameworks connecting technical performance, product quality, and customer outcomes.
  • Investigate patterns, form conclusions, and translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand data and business requirements.
  • Apply a validation and quality mindset across the full lifecycle of data solutions.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytical experiences.
  • Follow data-management, privacy, security, access-control, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure secure, reliable, and high-quality Windows update experiences.

Krav

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Proficiency with one or more data engineering or software-development languages, such as SQL, KQL, Python, Scope, C#, or another object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience using telemetry, analytics, testing, or validation signals to assess product quality, identify issues, and inform product improvements.
  • Experience defining and monitoring product-quality metrics or KPIs and translating data into actionable insights for engineering or product decisions.
  • Experience creating data visualizations and communicating technical insights to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, or another source-control and engineering-workflow system.

  • Experience designing, building, and supporting scalable data-processing solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer, Power BI, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience or exposure in quality assurance, software testing, validation, product analytics, or another discipline that complements data engineering.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with data governance, data compliance, and/or data security.

Förmåner

  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.
  • Base pay range in San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
