As a Data Center Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and support of physical facilities, including power supply and generators. This role involves routine inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generator systems and other critical infrastructure. The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to work non-standard hours, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Ansvarsområden
- Perform routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance on generator sets.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Execute major and minor repairs on engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
- Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new generator equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
- Operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, fire systems, buildings, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot problems, do repairs on infrastructure equipment, supervise, and support contractors to deliver quality service to Google.
- Ensure a safe working environment for you and your colleagues by adhering to safety standards and doing risk assessments to determine preventive measures.
- Respond quickly to minimize the recovery time from failures in emergency situations or abnormal conditions.
Krav
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of generator experience (e.g., generator inspection, maintenance, and operations) in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of OSHA standard safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
- English proficiency is a requirement for all roles unless stated otherwise in the job posting.
Önskade kvalifikationer
- 5 years of experience in maintenance of generator systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
- Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
- Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of generator systems used in a data center environment (e.g., engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems, etc.).
- Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
