Qualcomm is seeking experienced AI Performance Engineers for their Cloud AI team in Cork, Ireland. The role involves optimizing AI models for efficient inference, working with advanced algorithms like GenAI, and scaling performance for LLMs, VLMs, and diffusion models on current and future hardware.

Ansvarsområden

  • Convert, optimize, and deploy models for efficient inference using PyTorch and ONNX.
  • Understand advanced GenAI algorithms (e.g., attention mechanisms, MoEs) and numerics to find optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze and optimize the performance of LLM, VLM, and diffusion models for inference, focusing on throughput and latency.
  • Map next-generation AI workloads onto current and future hardware designs.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal compiler, firmware, and platform teams to drive solutions.
  • Analyze complex performance or stability issues to identify root causes.
  • Create engineering solutions to provide continuous insights into AI workload performance.
  • Design and implement high-level kernels in Triton for efficient low-level code generation.

Krav

  • Hands-on experience in building and optimizing language models, particularly in PyTorch and ONNX, preferably in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and performance trade-offs.
  • Experience with workload mapping strategies, including sharding or various parallelisms.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Proactive learning of the latest inference optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of computer architecture, ML accelerators, in-memory processing, and distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

Önskade kvalifikationer

  • MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Background in neural network operators and mathematical operations, including linear algebra and math libraries.
  • Understanding of machine learning compilers.
  • Experience in converging accuracy and its evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of torch.compile or torchDynamo.
  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Machine Learning.
