Responsibilities
- Manage workshop workload planning using workshop planner software.
- Monitor and manage campaigns, ensuring on-schedule completion.
- Allocate work/repair orders to Technicians based on skills to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Assist and guide production staff technically and physically.
- Advise Technicians on troubleshooting and repair estimations.
- Communicate job scope and target times to Technicians.
- Develop and appraise repair orders, allocating Volvo Standard Time.
- Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure timely parts availability.
- Test drive vehicles and assess production quality, completing quality check documents.
- Ensure Warranty Claim or Contract Claim materials are correctly labelled and stored.
- Make recommendations regarding overtime working, ensuring full productivity.
- Achieve Workshop Productive Efficiency KPI targets.
- Develop teamwork between Technicians, Foremen, and Service Advisors.
- Assess and address productive staff's knowledge, skill, attitude, and training needs.
- Maintain workshop facilities, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and equipment condition.
- Control, coordinate, and motivate the team, implementing company policy and discipline.
- Lead by example to ensure high Health & Safety performance.
- Review processes and working practices to implement improvements.
- Answer technical queries from internal and external customers.
- Participate in ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 implementation and cooperate in HSE implementation.
Requirements
- Malaysian Skills Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related field.
- Formal training in leadership, communication, and people skills.
- Competencies from the Volvo Leadership competencies.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the commercial vehicle industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in workshop management.
- Experience in managing both people and processes.
- Must be a team player at all times.
- Confidently communicate at all levels, both written and verbally.
- Flexible approach to work commitment.
- Ability to coach, provide support, and guidance to the production team.
- Ability to adapt and take on new skills and approaches.
- Consistent and proven ability in handling productive staff (support, motivation, discipline).
- Good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses.
- Proficiency in the English language is required as all documentation is in English.
- Computer literacy and data entry skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Technical / mechanical skill knowledge.
- Exposure to a service / workshop environment (highly desirable).
