Alfa Laval is hiring a full-time 1st Shift Warehouse Worker at their Richmond manufacturing facility. This role involves picking and delivering materials, operating forklifts, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Prior manufacturing and materials experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pick and deliver necessary materials to appropriate workstations or locations efficiently and responsively.
  • Address internal department requests for material delivery promptly to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Accurate & Consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform others as required by the specific process).
  • Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager, utilizing Standard Operating Procedures as a base.
  • Assists Team Lead and Team Manager with administrative and operational tasks, including coordination and reporting.
  • Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Digital Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
  • Be active and engaged in the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining the deviations and propose solutions.
  • Cross train in multiple pick units to provide flexible support and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Look into your own areas for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventory etc.) elimination opportunities and drive continuous improvements.
  • Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
  • Use the downtime efficiently to learn the new processes & run improvements from the status board activities.
  • Get certified in and safely operate forklifts and manlifts to transport material, equipment, or product as required.
  • Expected to work at varying heights.
  • Full compliance with all Alfa Laval policies and procedures is required to maintain a respectful, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Employees expected to conduct themselves with professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation toward colleagues, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in Materials
  • Basic desktop computer skills required
  • Basic math skills required including the ability to read a tape measure

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift operation certification preferred
  • Overhead crane experience preferred
