Alfa Laval's Richmond manufacturing facility seeks a full-time 1st shift Warehouse Worker to handle material delivery, operate forklifts, and contribute to process improvements. Responsibilities
- Pick and deliver necessary materials to appropriate workstations or locations efficiently and responsively.
- Address internal department requests for material delivery promptly to maintain workflow continuity.
- Accurate and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform, others as required by the specific process).
- Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager, utilizing Standard Operating Procedures as a base.
- Assist Team Lead and Team Manager with administrative and operational tasks, including coordination and reporting.
- Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Digital Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
- Be active and engaged in the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining deviations and proposing solutions.
- Cross train in multiple pick units to provide flexible support and enhance operational efficiency.
- Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Look for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventory etc.) elimination opportunities and drive continuous improvements.
- Engage in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve and sustain high 5S Standards.
- Use downtime efficiently to learn new processes & run improvements from status board activities.
- Get certified in and safely operate forklifts and manlifts to transport material, equipment, or product as required. Expected to work at varying heights.
- Maintain full compliance with all Alfa Laval policies and procedures to ensure a respectful, safe, and productive work environment.
- Conduct oneself with professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation toward colleagues, customers, vendors, and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in Materials.
- Basic desk top computer skills required.
- Basic math skills required including the ability to read a tape measure.
- Accurate & Consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform, others as required by the specific process).
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Stands or walks 80% of workday.
- Required to have visual acuity to operate industrial vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
- Must wear PPE: steel toe boots, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves/sleeves.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Forklift operation certification preferred.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
- Experience working at varying heights.
