Thesis - Verification of VIN-number using computer vision

In short

This thesis project focuses on automating the verification of VIN numbers on heavy trucks at Volvo Trucks in Gothenburg using computer vision. The work involves requirement gathering, scope definition, test setup, verification, and providing recommendations for industrialization, in collaboration with engineering and VVS development teams.

Responsibilities

Investigate the possibility to use computer vision to read the VIN number and compare it to the information on the paper label.
Identify stakeholders and gather requirements.
Define investigation scope.
Set up test equipment.
Verify the possibility to fulfill requirements.
Recommend further actions to industrialize the solution.

Requirements

Must be a team of two students.
At least one student must speak Swedish.
Students are expected to spend most of the time on-site at the assembly plant in Tuve, Gothenburg.
