Responsibilities
- Perform structural calculations including hand calculations, analytical methods, and advanced FEA.
- Develop, assess, and document structural designs from concept to testing and verification.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, automation, electrical, supply chain, quality, customer projects).
- Take a system-level approach to understand loads, boundary conditions, interfaces, and operational environments.
- Prepare and peer-review structural calculation reports and documentation.
- Apply relevant design standards and class rules (e.g., DNV).
- Evaluate alternative design solutions for performance, manufacturability, weight, complexity, and cost.
- Develop and maintain expertise in specialist areas of structural engineering.
- Communicate structural risks, assumptions, and design recommendations to stakeholders.
- Contribute to design reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering methods.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, naval architecture, aerospace engineering, or similar.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics and engineering fundamentals.
- Practical experience with linear and non-linear finite element analysis (FEA).
- Fluent professional English, both written and spoken.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ANSYS is highly desirable.
- Python programming experience is a plus.
- Experience designing and dimensioning large steel structures is highly desirable.
- Experience with marine, offshore, shipbuilding, heavy machinery, energy, or other highly regulated structural applications is an advantage.
- Experience working with DNV standards or other marine classification society rules is highly desirable.
- Sound understanding of how engineering decisions affect the business case of the product.
- Passionate about structural engineering and solving complex problems.
- Pragmatic engineer combining analytical depth with good engineering judgment.
- Able to understand the bigger picture and how decisions affect the complete product.
- Enjoys working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Comfortable challenging designs and assumptions.
- Able to explain technical reasoning clearly and adapt communication.
