In short

Spotify søger en erfaren Staff Backend Engineer til at definere den tekniske retning for policenforcement-infrastruktur på Content Platform-teamet. Du vil designe og udvikle skalerbare systemer og fungere som en mentor for andre ingeniører.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical direction for policy enforcement infrastructure
  • Architect enforcement capabilities as a shared platform
  • Design and evolve multi-signal orchestration systems
  • Build the data foundation for durable and reusable enforcement decisions
  • Own API and contract decisions, including schema design and versioning
  • Establish integration standards for onboarding teams and execute migrations
  • Influence architecture across detection, signal processing, and enforcement workflows
  • Mentor engineers and set the bar for API design, data modeling, and compliance consequences

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems, APIs, event-driven pipelines, rule engines, and decision systems
  • Proficient in backend engineering at scale, with strong command of languages like Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar
  • Comfortable owning data models, service contracts, and storage layer decisions
  • Experienced with stream processing and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, or equivalent)
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and distributed coordination
  • Experienced with relational and non-relational storage systems
  • Understand platform engineering patterns: multi-tenant APIs, configurable rule engines, policy-driven actioning systems
  • Familiar with observability and operational excellence
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-adjacent environments
  • Comfortable in polyglot environments
  • Think in systems end-to-end

Desired Qualifications

  • Understand the tradeoffs between batch and real-time enforcement pipelines
  • Designed systems where schema and contract stability matter as much as correctness
  • Understand the tradeoffs between different orchestration methods
  • Know how to model enforcement data for auditability, immutability, and efficient querying at scale
  • Understand the difference between building for one team and building for many
  • Understand distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting, and tooling
  • Understand how infrastructure design decisions, log retention, schema choices, data lineage, carry legal and audit consequences
  • Navigate existing systems thoughtfully rather than defaulting to greenfield rewrites

Benefits

  • Extensive learning opportunities, through our dedicated team, GreenHouse
  • Flexible share incentives letting you choose how you share in our success
  • Global parental leave, six months off - for all new parents
  • All The Feels, our employee assistance program and self-care hub
  • Flexible public holidays, swap days off according to your values and beliefs
