Synopsys is seeking a Sr Staff Software Engineer for their PyAnsys team in Spain. This fully remote role involves designing and developing Python libraries, leading architecture, and collaborating across global teams to enhance Ansys simulation tools. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Python, experience with compiled languages, and strong API design skills.

Responsibilities

Design and develop Python libraries for PyAnsys, building APIs and frameworks.
Lead architecture and technical planning across multiple PyAnsys projects.
Work at the boundary between Python and compiled languages (C++, C#), building integration layers.
Define and enforce best practices for library design, testing, documentation, and release management.
Collaborate with Ansys product teams and users to understand requirements and prototype solutions.
Debug complex issues spanning Python, compiled code, and Ansys solvers.
Represent the PyAnsys effort in technical discussions with leadership, customers, and the open source community.

Requirements

BSc, MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with professional experience in commercial or production software environments.
Deep expertise in Python for building libraries, frameworks, or developer tools.
Strong understanding of API design, packaging, testing, and open source development practices.
Hands-on experience with compiled languages like C++ or C#, including performance-critical code or interoperability layers.
Proven ability to lead technical efforts across multiple teams or business units.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Experience with simulation software, scientific computing, numerical methods, or engineering tools is a strong plus.
Track record of mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and raising the technical quality of a team or codebase.
