As a Software Development Manager for Prime Video's Linear Discovery Service, you will lead a team of engineers to build and evolve the core page composition engine for live TV content. Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of software development engineers responsible for building and evolving the page composition engine that determines what carousels and linear content collections appear on Prime Video.
- Set the technical vision and strategy that optimize the placement of content sections based on customer behavior and business rules.
- Drive architectural decisions for scalable services that integrate with recommendation systems, balancing technical debt reduction with feature delivery.
- Ensure operational excellence across all team services, including robust caching and content delivery mechanisms that provide low-latency responses for millions of concurrent users.
- Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent; manage performance, provide career coaching, and foster an inclusive team culture.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
