Amazon Travel & Events (AT&E) Tech is transforming the end-to-end travel and expense experience for Amazon employees using AI and GenAI. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the development of new services, integrate AI capabilities, and build scalable, secure systems across multiple countries. You will lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and driving significant operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

Shape architectural decisions for next-generation Travel & Expense systems and services.
Drive adoption of AI technologies like agentic AI, LLMs, and ML-powered pattern detection.
Design scalable, secure systems with enterprise-grade controls, observability, and auditability.
Build flexible integration patterns bridging modern and legacy transactional systems.
Partner with AWS teams to evaluate and adopt emerging AI capabilities.
Lead a high-performing engineering team building solutions for Travel & Events operations at massive scale.
Hire, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
Set clear goals tied to measurable organizational impact and manage execution and roadmap.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven insights, rigorous testing, and governance.

Requirements

3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of engineering experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Desired Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
