Software Development Manager, Core Shopping

Description

Alexa Shopping team in Bangalore is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead engineering efforts that empower customers to delegate complex, multi-step shopping tasks to Alexa. You will own asynchronous experiences that handle work offline while customers continue with their lives, processing tasks independently and reconnecting for updates or authorization on critical decisions. Your team will build Alexa into a trusted assistant that works on the customer's behalf.

Key job responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of software engineers focused on GenAI-powered shopping experiences
- Foster career growth and a strong team culture centered on innovation and customer obsession
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff
- Partner with Product Management, Design, Science, and Business teams to define and execute product strategy
- Drive the technical vision and architecture for AI/ML-powered shopping experiences at scale
- Own all operational metrics and support for your team's software
- Manage the agile development process to deliver incremental value to customers

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
