In short

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to build and deliver new cloud infrastructure, maintain existing systems, and champion best practices in security and reliability. The role involves ensuring platform scalability, guiding WAF and CDN usage, and requires strong experience in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, container technologies, cloud security models, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

Build and deliver new cloud infrastructure that powers our platforms.
Keep our existing cloud systems running smoothly and evolving with our needs.
Share your expertise and support with the wider engineering team.
Champion best practices in infrastructure security, resilience, and reliability.
Make sure our platforms scale effectively with the right capacity and triggers.
Guide our use of WAFs and CDNs, including smart configuration to optimise performance.

Requirements

Strong experience across cloud infrastructure – compute, storage, networking, and security.
Familiarity with PaaS services and hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.
A solid understanding of cloud security models (IAM, Service Principals, VPCs).
Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code practices (e.g. Terraform or similar tools).
Experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
A proactive mindset, always looking for ways to improve and optimise.

Desired Qualifications

Exposure to Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Use of Docker in local development environments (e.g. devcontainers, Docker Compose).
