Bristol Myers Squibb is looking for an Algorithm Test Engineer with strong Python skills to design, develop, and execute test solutions for algorithm-based software applications. The role involves validating complex algorithms, business rules, and data processing logic using Python-based test automation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Responsibilities

Design and execute test strategies for algorithm-driven software components.
Understand algorithm requirements, workflows, inputs, outputs, constraints, and expected behaviors.
Develop Python-based automated tests for algorithm validation.
Validate algorithm outputs against expected results and reference datasets.
Test boundary conditions, edge cases, negative scenarios, and large/complex datasets.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and data-driven testing.
Identify discrepancies between expected and actual algorithm behavior.
Analyze failures and collaborate with developers/algorithm engineers for root-cause analysis.
Develop reusable Python utilities and test frameworks.
Validate results across UI, API, database, and backend layers, where applicable.
Perform API testing and data validation for algorithm-related services.
Create and maintain test scenarios, test cases, test data, defect reports, and test evidence.
Participate in requirement/design reviews and identify testability gaps early.
Support CI/CD-based automated test execution and regression testing.
Provide clear test status, defect analysis, risks, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

Requirements

Strong hands-on Python programming experience.
Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and logical problem solving.
Experience designing automated test scripts/frameworks using Python.
Experience in algorithm validation and data-driven testing.
Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals and test design techniques.
Ability to analyze complex inputs and independently determine expected algorithm outputs.
Experience with API and backend testing.
Good debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience with Git/version-control workflows.
Strong SQL and database validation knowledge.

Desired Qualifications

PyTest or similar Python testing frameworks.
REST API testing.
SQL/database testing.
CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Experience testing applications involving scheduling, optimization, calculation, prioritization, decision logic, or data-processing algorithms.
Performance testing of algorithms with high-volume datasets.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Familiarity with regulated or life-sciences software environments would be beneficial.
