Microsoft is seeking a Senior Sourcing Engineer with expertise in Supply Chain Fulfillment & Logistics to drive sourcing strategies across their Global Fulfillment & Logistics network. The role involves leading negotiations, managing supplier relationships, and developing category strategies to ensure competitive cost, quality, and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute differentiated sourcing strategies for assigned products using leading Fulfillment & Logistics (F&L) service providers.
- Own business performance for assigned product categories across the full lifecycle, including supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and relationship management.
- Set clear priorities, resolve execution barriers, and hold F&L partners accountable through measurable commitments and performance reviews.
- Develop and maintain cost models using should-cost analysis, benchmarking, and cost-driver insights; lead cost-reduction plans.
- Generate competitive supplier, technology, and market intelligence to identify emerging capabilities and risks.
- Identify and mitigate supply continuity, capacity, financial, geopolitical, and operational risks by developing supplier resilience plans.
- Lead change initiatives to improve sourcing efficiency, decision quality, and supplier performance.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Sourcing teams for alignment and execution.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 7+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 5+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Deep industry knowledge relevant for Fulfillment & Logistics that support the consumer electronics industry.
- Demonstrated experience in market analysis to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, technology replacements/forecasts, pricing trends, etc., to formulate sourcing strategies.
- Experience in delivering best in class total cost of ownership (TCO), continuity of supply (COS), and in building partnerships.
- Expertise in financial statement analysis to derive should-cost models and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers before Request for X (RFx) is conducted.
- Combination of business and technical knowledge base, particularly for assigned categories.
- Project/timeline (Consumer Electronics Integrated Project Management) adherence experiences.
- Ability to articulate points of view with executive management but execute plans when directed.
- Proficient in mastering Microsoft systems and processes, and adept at synthesizing diverse perspectives to drive effective action and execution.
- Passionate about opportunities to establish new approach to sourcing.
- Ability to communicate and think strategically to support ideology with facts.
