Microsoft Azure Storage is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to its massively scalable, distributed cloud storage solution. The role involves ensuring high availability, consistent performance, and debugging complex distributed systems at global scale. Candidates will work with cutting-edge technology to build and improve hyperscale storage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation and analysis of complex distributed systems, tracing fault causation.
  • Identify and mitigate bottlenecks or load concentration, defining automated algorithms for load distribution.
  • Collaborate across teams to establish algorithms and heuristics robust to hardware degradation and recurring events.
  • Determine and communicate patterns for systemic improvement or efficient identification of known issues.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers about leveraging Storage technologies.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers and working on-call for system monitoring.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Drive consistency in monitoring and operations at scale, sharing knowledge with other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Benefits

  • USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year (US national range)
  • USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)
