The Senior Industrial Application Engineer will be a key contributor to the Volvo Penta China Sales & Marketing Team, responsible for engine and component application, solutions, and installation support for OEM customers and dealers. This role involves defining application specifications, preparing technical agreements, supporting installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases to drive customer satisfaction and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support, including on-site support and technical alignment with customers.
- Provide installation guidance, inspection, installation review, and evaluation.
- Establish and maintain an application, technical, installation, and components matching database.
- Manage technical documentation and project filing.
- Work with the sales team to identify market and customer requirements and support OEMs and dealers to enable business growth.
- Provide pre-sales technical application support to dealers and OEMs.
- Work with Sales and OEMs to define engine-related power solutions.
- Prepare and sign Project Technical Agreements with customers, clarifying technical scope, deliverables, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria.
- Support dealers/OEMs in prototype or first unit installation; conduct Installation Reviews and close gaps against Volvo Penta requirements.
- Provide on-site commissioning support and installation evaluation, issue standardized reports, and follow-up actions.
- Support and advise OEMs to optimize engine-related power solution performance and reliability, including matching related components.
- Communicate product changes, updates, and new product introductions to OEMs/dealers.
- Plan and deliver technical training to Sales dealers and key OEMs; develop application capability and delivery quality.
- Interface with internal stakeholders to drive issue analysis, root cause identification, and corrective and preventive actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Powertrain, or related majors.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience in engine application, commissioning, system integration in off-road industry or related equipment.
- Proficient written and spoken English for technical communication and documentation.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Strong teamwork, ownership mindset, customer focus, and proactive attitude.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in engine driven machine matching and components integration preferred.
