Amarr is seeking a Safety & Training Manager for its manufacturing operations in Mocksville, NC. This role involves developing and implementing safety, environmental, compliance, and training programs, partnering with various departments to reduce risk and enhance employee capabilities. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in manufacturing safety regulations and training program development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Manage workers' compensation programs and return-to-work initiatives.
  • Oversee personal protective equipment (PPE), hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for safety, environmental compliance, and operational processes.
  • Maintain training systems, certifications, and records.
  • Assess training needs and identify skill gaps.
  • Lead and maintain the facility's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting.
  • Drive initiatives for waste reduction, resource conservation, and sustainability.
  • Support operational excellence through GEMBA activities and continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide safety leadership for capital projects and process changes.
  • Build strong relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Champion a safety-first culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Human Resources, Business, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in safety, training, environmental management, manufacturing operations, or a related field.
  • Experience leading safety and compliance programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation, environmental compliance, and risk management practices.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering effective training and educational programs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and coaching skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business systems.
  • Ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to respond to workplace incidents and emergencies.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA certification, or equivalent professional credential.
  • Experience leading ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, equipment commissioning, and manufacturing startups.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training administration.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
