Sandvik Mining is seeking an entry-level Rock Tools Technician in Prince George, BC, to support rock tools contracts through guidance on tool usage, product management, and distribution. This role requires a valid driver's license and offers a path to a career in the mining industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage rock tools inventory, tracking new issues, discards, and losses.
  • Repair and maintain rock tools according to specifications.
  • Deliver rock tools products to customers.
  • Utilize the Rock Tools Management System for monitoring and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical recommendations to supervisors and sales representatives.
  • Report occurrences of improper usage or selection by operators.
  • Complete accurate time, technical, and failure reports.
  • Build relationships with the rock tools team and internal/external customers.
  • Perform daily/weekly stock counts.
  • Perform other relevant duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Comply with safety policies and government/industry regulations.
  • Identify and report unsafe work habits, incidents, and near misses.
  • Perform risk assessments ('Take Five') before each task.
  • Maintain hand tools and equipment for safe operation.
  • Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
  • Attend Environmental, Health, and Safety trainings.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School (High school).
  • Full class 5 valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to work with Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required).

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience with industry-specific equipment (mining or construction) would be an asset.
  • Previous knowledge and/or experience with Sandvik products would be an asset.
  • Common Core is considered an asset.
