Sandvik Mining & Rock is seeking an Outbound Operations Manager for its Romeoville, Illinois location. This role oversees all outbound operations, including picking, packing, and loading, while ensuring safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The position reports to the Hub Manager and involves leading and developing a team to foster a high-performance culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all outbound operations across all shifts, including order picking, consolidation, packing, and loading for carrier shipments.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance of all Sandvik policies, SOPs, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Optimize operational efficiency and performance, focusing on operational cost control, KPIs, and SOPs.
  • Lead change management initiatives for new processes, systems, or technology within outbound operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve operational challenges and optimize workflow.
  • Support the execution of continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop, mentor, and coach team members and leadership across all shifts.
  • Promote employee engagement, empowerment, and problem-solving.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
  • Oversee performance management, including evaluations, feedback, and development plans.
  • Model company values and operational excellence.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects.

Requirements

  • College degree with an emphasis in distribution, warehouse, logistics, retail, or transportation, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of warehouse experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience and inventory control experience in a manufacturing or distribution site.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change.
  • Ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work off-shift as required.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of asset management procedures.
  • Proven experience in quality and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and follow-through skills.
  • Maintain forklift certification.
  • Availability to travel, as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with WMS; Blue Yonder a plus.
  • Experience managing a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).
