As a Molding Engineer at ABB in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, you will optimize injection molding methods, processes, and equipment to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This onsite, full-time role requires a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and at least 3 years of manufacturing experience, including specific experience in injection molding and familiarity with problem-solving methodologies like FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma.
Responsibilities
- Optimize injection molding methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hour and improve efficiency.
- Define working phase sequence for new production processes to achieve product cost and equipment investment targets.
- Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components support production targets.
- Identify and recommend improvement opportunities, implementing projects within timeframe, quality, and cost requirements.
- Approve internal/external process designs and perform final tests.
- Provide support to Production during internal/external process/equipment start-up, including action plans and training.
- Evaluate new process technologies for improved productivity, quality, and cost reduction, leading testing activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing area.
- 3+ years of experience in injection molding.
- Experience with equipment automation is desirable.
- Problem solving and analytical skills (i.e., Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies).
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and address employee/management concerns.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (Spanish and English).
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
