Responsibilities
- Propose and compare a manageable number of reference IT architectures for a future software tool and its supporting IT services.
- Cover the front-end layer for engineer interaction and back-end services for storing, accessing, and analyzing system-model information.
- Evaluate IT architectures against selected engineering change cases, identifying relevant aspects for system-model information and engineering work.
- Assess how easily engineers can find and use system-model information.
- Assess proposed IT components and the overall IT solution using criteria such as security, maintainability, technical maturity, and integration with other engineering tools.
- Provide a comparison of alternative reference IT architectures and a well-founded recommendation for the supporting IT solution.
- Potentially demonstrate concepts using a small number of selected engineering change cases if time permits.
Requirements
- Approaching the end of a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
- About to begin a 30 hp thesis project.
- Interest in IT architecture, AI, information modelling or system integration is beneficial.
- Must pass a security vetting.
Desired Qualifications
- Cooperate with another student who focuses on aircraft-level systems modelling and engineering workflows.
- Previous aerospace or industrial experience is not required.
- No need for knowledge of a particular systems-modelling language or expertise in both AI and systems modelling.
