Responsibilities
- Use mills and lathes in both CNC and manual modes.
- Machine material to print by reading blueprints.
- Select appropriate tooling and plan machining steps.
- Review material certifications and condition.
- Check and maintain the accuracy of measuring instruments.
- Fill out required paperwork supporting the machining operation.
- Deliver custom machined parts.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area.
- Ensure basic machine maintenance (filters, oil, coolant).
Requirements
- Experience and/or college courses in the Machinist Field.
- Knowledgeable in the operation of at least one type of Manually Operated Mill or Lathe.
- Good understanding of how to read blueprints.
- Ability to use measurement instruments.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (speak, write and read) in English.
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, self-starter with a positive attitude.
- Must pass pre-employment background, drug, and alcohol screening.
- Ability to wear steel-toe boots/shoes and safety glasses.
- Ability to work in a noisy, oily/dusty machine shop environment.
- Able to push, pull and lift up to 30lbs, unassisted.
- Able to walk & move about effectively in a Machine Shop Facility.
- Able to read Safety Signage in English.
Desired Qualifications
- Learn how to read advanced blueprints.
- Machining high tolerance parts on a variety of machines.
- How to preserve basic maintenance levels and a safe work environment.
