Microsoft seeks a Fiber Delivery Engineer to build and manage network infrastructure, including fiber and subsea circuits, for services like Azure and Office 365. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and drawings for fiber diversity, identification, POE, and internal routing.
  • Perform frontline technical project management with external suppliers, tracking construction schedules and producing reports.
  • Review Fiber Characterization (FC) results against Microsoft Core Fiber Standards and produce as-build documentation.
  • Manage risks and develop mitigation options using market intelligence.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections remotely or by traveling to sites.
  • Manage remediation activities with suppliers and third-party Fiber Characterization Teams.
  • Communicate status and produce reports to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development, OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development, OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects in the Telecom Industry.
  • 1+ year(s) experience with ISP / OSP construction, Telecom Architectural, Optical Transport and WAN implementation/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Network/optical engineering or photonics and workflow management.
  • Experience developing robust, scalable and diversified operating procedures and strategies for Fiber Sourcing and Delivery segments.
  • Ability to read and understand High Level Network design documentation and Network layouts.
