Responsibilities
- Design and develop real-time embedded software for controller products.
- Collaborate with global Scrum teams and multi-functional teams (Software, Hardware, System Test, Product Management).
- Participate in all phases of software development, from product definition to production release.
- Utilize Agile software development practices, including Continuous Integration.
- Break down problems and estimate development tasks.
- Develop deep domain expertise in control system platforms.
- Assist team members through pair programming and code reviews.
- Drive premier quality in product development and support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 12–16 years of experience in Embedded Software/Firmware Development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors/controllers, preferably in Industrial Automation and Control Systems.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for high-performance, reliable, safety-critical embedded software.
- Hands-on experience in BSP, device driver, middleware, and application firmware development on VxWorks and Embedded Linux platforms.
- Proven expertise in hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of boot architectures and startup sequences (U-Boot, GRUB, MLO), secure boot, firmware upgrade mechanisms, and system recovery processes.
- Experience in real-time embedded software design and development using multi-threaded and multi-process architectures under VxWorks or other commercial RTOS environments.
- Expertise in debugging and performance analysis of complex real-time systems using Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
- Good understanding and implementation experience of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINE, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, DNP3).
- Experience integrating and validating industrial communication protocol stacks into embedded firmware and control applications.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, network diagnostics, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
- Experience in embedded board bring-up, hardware-software integration, and troubleshooting using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers, JTAG/Boundary Scan Tools.
- Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral specifications.
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, Automated Build/Test, Version Control Systems like Git, SVN).
- Familiarity with industrial automation standards, reliability requirements, and firmware quality processes for mission-critical control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-driven, highly organized professional with demonstrated capability to identify technical challenges and propose solutions.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
- Firmware development experience with Xilinx's Ultrascale SOC is an added advantage
- Experience in scripting languages like Python
