Microsoft is seeking a Datacenter Technician (DCT) Intern to join their Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team in Busan, South Korea. This on-site internship offers hands-on experience in installing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning data center equipment, contributing to services used by billions worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Work onsite at Microsoft datacenters in Busan.
- Assist with preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning network, storage, and server equipment.
- Follow guidelines and work closely with experienced technicians to understand data center policies and procedures.
- Learn to read and assess Process Change Notifications (PCNs).
- Complete assigned support tickets efficiently and participate in daily safety briefings.
- Help maintain a positive team environment by sharing information and collaborating.
- Escalate technical, safety, or security incidents promptly.
- Complete all required training, including security and EHS.
- Handle routine physical demands such as lifting, climbing, and working under data center conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
- Interest in supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- Studying towards a relevant technical qualification.
- Must be a South Korean citizen or have residency and be eligible to work in South Korea.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Desired Qualifications
- Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
- Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights.
- Effective communication skills with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficient in written and oral English communication.
- Desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills.
- Flexibility to work non-standard business hours including weekends and/or holidays.
