Microsoft seeks a Data Center Technician through its Neurodiversity Hiring Program. This fully on-site, full-time role involves preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning IT equipment under guidance. Responsibilities

  • Prepare, install, diagnose, troubleshoot, replace, and decommission IT datacenter technology and equipment.
  • Develop understanding of cabling infrastructure, network, server, and storage equipment.
  • Comply with Data Center policies, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with KPIs.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and comply with EHS procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and share information with other shifts.
  • Complete required security and data management training.
  • Maintain awareness of KPIs for personal performance discussions.
  • Escalate and seek guidance from experienced technicians or management regarding client interactions.
  • Follow procedures to report and escalate technical or safety incidents.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware.
  • Learn about post-execution verification of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
  • Directly perform decommissions and simple changes on infrastructure cabling, network, storage, and server equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components OR equivalent experience.
  • Qualify to participate in the Neurodiversity Hiring Program (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia & dyscalculia).
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States that does not require employer sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
